9 Easy Techniques to Eliminate Termites

When you see bubbled or cracked paints on the walls of your home, its interior can be infested by termites. They can enter the house at any season of the year. Before getting help from experts, you can also try some of these solutions to manage the problem.
1. Salt Water
Salt is effective in killing termites. It can also prevent them from growing more in the interior area of your house. Simply mix salt and warm water in a pale or bowl. Keep stirring until the salt dissolves. Pour the solution in the area infested by termites. You may also use injection to inject the solution in the entry points of the termites.
2. White Vinegar and Lemons
Another effective way to eliminate termites is white vinegar. Simply mix lemon juice with white vinegar in a bowl or spray bottle. Using a spray bottle, you can easily spray the solution on the areas infested by termites. You can do this treatment two times a day.
3. Place Furniture under the Sun
If some of your furniture is infested by termites, you can place them under the sun for at least three days to eliminate the pests. Wooden cabinets and tables are likely to have termites so it is best to place them under direct sunlight to kill the colonies.
4. Soap and Water
Termites can die with soap and water. You can use dish washing liquid as well. Simply mix two spoons of dish washing liquid with four cups of water. Pour the solution into a spray bottle so you can easily spray the liquid on the areas infested by termites. This technique can destroy the respiratory system of the termites which can kill them instantly. Repeat this for at least three times a day until the termites are gone.
5. Neem Oil
Another great and nontoxic way to eliminate termites from your wooden furniture or other wooden areas of your house is neem oil. It prevents the termites from growing and they eventually die. It also stops the pests from eating and laying eggs. Neem oil is very effective to eliminate termites but it only works if these pests have direct contact with it.
Simply pour some neem oil on a cloth or cotton ball and apply it on the furniture infested by termites. The pests can ingest the oil and die thereafter. You can repeat this technique as much as you want until you get rid of all termites.
6. Orange Oil
Another way of getting rid of drywood termites is orange oil. Using a cotton swab, apply the orange oil onto the entry points of termites. To make sure that the oil can reach the termites, make sure that you apply the oil on the holes. You can also create your own hole on the areas where termites are hiding. Repeat this technique for many days until the termites disappear.
7. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper has many benefits and one if it is to eliminate termites. Sprinkle cayenne powder on the holes and infested areas. Repeat this technique every day until the termites die. Aside from sprinkling the cayenne pepper powder, you can also mix it with vegetable oil to make a paste. Apply the mixture on the infested area to kill the termites.
8. Sodium Borate
Sodium Borate is also known as borax. It can kill subterranean termites by dehydrating them and stopping their nervous system. Simply place sodium borate on the infested areas. Repeat this technique every day until the termites has been killed.
Aside from the powder, you can also mix it with water to make a solution. Pour the solution in a spray bottle and spray it on the infested areas.
Another way to eliminate termites is by setting a trap using a wet cardboard. The smell of wet cardboard can attract the termites. Place the wet cardboard near the infested area. Once the termites are eating the wet cardboard, remove and burn it immediately.
